The effectiveness of its use as a sorbent has been proven by studies of its properties. Rubber powder, obtained during the processing of rubber, adsorbs it when it is sprinkled on oil products floating on the surface of the water.
As a result of sorption, the powder is collected in large agglomerates weighing up to several kilograms, which remain on the surface of the water for several days under any conditions and are easily collected mechanically. After collecting and squeezing oil products in a centrifuge, rubber bitumen wax can be made from rubber powder.
When determining the buoyancy, it was found that the RKL2020 rubber powder stays afloat for longer than the usual 96 hours for sorbents for collecting oil spills, i.e. the buoyancy margin is sufficient to complete all cleaning operations and collecting the spent sorbent.
